The First Station

Jesus and His Disciples Celebrate the Last Supper
 
We adore you, O Christ and we praise you.
Because by your holy cross, you have redeemed the world.
 
Reading
While they were eating, he took bread, said the blessing, broke the bread and gave it to them and said, “This is my Body.” The he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, and they all drank from it. He said to them. “This is my blood of the covenant, which will be shed for many. Amen I say to you, I shall not drink of the fruit of the vine until the day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.” Then, after singing a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
 
Response
The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom should I fear? The Lord is my life’s refuge; of whom should I be afraid? There is one thing I ask of the Lord, tor this I long, to live in the house of the Lord, all the days of my life.
 
Prayer
O God, 
to free us from sin and weakness, 
your Son, Jesus Christ, 
embraced his fearful passion and crucifixion. 
Strengthen us in our baptismal resolutions by which we renounce sin, 
so that through the passion of this life’s sufferings, 
we may rise to newness of life in you. 
Amen.
 
At the cross her station keeping,
Mary stood in sorrow weeping, 
when her Son was crucified.
