You are likely busy with schoolwork, career, family demands, or a combination of. Where do you go to find a way to fulfill a desire to live your Catholic faith in service to the community and Catholic Church? Consider joining the Knights of Columbus! They offer Catholic men volunteer opportunities and activities that could satisfy these desires while providing meaningful time with a classmate, spouse, or the family. Become part of an organization whose purpose is to serve the Church, our priests and seminarians, provide help to the less fortunate of our society, and to be there for fellow Brother Knights & their families when a need arises.
Knights share camaraderie with men who hold values similar to yours. Knights are involved with your community, and they support your local Catholic Church and its causes, while deepening their faith. They believe in protecting human life and enhancing their family values.
The
Knights of Columbus is an international Catholic lay organization with more than 1.9 million members in 15,000+ councils located throughout North & Central America’s, the Philippines, the Caribbean, and Eastern Europe. Over 300 are found on college campuses. The Knights of Columbus was founded in 1882 by the Venerable Father Michael J. McGivney in the town of New Haven, Connecticut. He formed the Order out of a need to provide assistance to immigrant families of his parish who were struggling with financial stress due to the death of the husband and father. You can read more about the organization and Father McGivney at

The Newman council was formed in July of 2011 by request of Youngstown Diocese Bishop George V. Murry and under the direction of former pastor Father Christopher Luoni. We do not have a hall. Instead we hold monthly meetings at the Newman Center. This helps keep membership our expenses to a minimum (less than $50 per year.) which allows much of our yearly dues be put towards charitable work. Our numbers are small in comparison to typical (older) councils but we do our part in support our community, Church, and fellow brothers and their families. A key principle of the Knights is
Unity. In numbers we are strong and can achieve great things. See our
Event Calendar and
Achievements tabs for more information.
