CCD (Confraternity of Christian Doctrine)
Confraternity of Christian Doctrine or CCD (also called "Parish School of Religion" or PSR in some parishes) is our program of catechesis for parish children from the age of 4 through grade 8 who do not attend Catholic school.
Like all of our program offerings at the Newman Center, CCD is an integral part of our vision of Campus Ministry. We staff our program with a combination of student and non-student parishioners providing an integrated ministry for both our college students and our children. In compliance with the Diocese of Youngstown child protection policy, all catechists undergo a background check and must adhere to diocesan policies.
Meeting Times and Locations
Due to the limitations of our space during the Covid-19 pandemic, all classes will meet remotely through a secure Zoom link. Each week, one grade level/class grouping will meet in the parish social hall on a rotating basis, as long as the Ohio Public Health Advisory System reports that Portage County remains at a level 1 or 2 public emergency (yellow or orange). Should Portage County be classified as a level 3 or 4 public emergency (red or purple), all classes will be online.
Enrollment and Fees
Registration materials have been mailed to currently registered families. Please contact Carmen Roebke if you have not yet received your materials or are new to our program.
Fees for CCD for parish members is $35 per child. These fees cover the cost of books and materials as well as help defray the expense of plant maintenance. No staff salary is paid from CCD fees. There is a special fee schedule and registration requirement for non-parishioners wishing to enroll their child in our program. Please see Carmen Roebke for more information if this applies to your situation.
